Many people strive for a flat and well-toned abdomen through exercise and weight control. However, even people with a healthy body weight can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging for various reasons including pregnancy, drastic weight loss and previous surgery. These individuals find it nearly impossible to achieve the abdomen they desire.

Abdominoplasty, commonly referred to as a "tummy tuck", is a popular procedure that enables both men and women to eliminate the extra fat or skin that exists around the waist and repair separated muscles, giving them a slimmer, smoother and firmer appearance. With a tummy tuck, Dr. Lemonas reverses changes caused by aging, weight fluctuation, genetics, pregnancy and other surgery. The results are permanent and can only be diminished by further alterations in weight.

Is it the right procedure for me?

Patients seeking a tummy tuck usually have one or more of the following conditions:

  • Excess skin and fat in the stomach
  • Loose or weak abdominal muscles
  • Not planning on becoming pregnant in the near future

Although the results of an abdominoplasty procedure are technically permanent, the positive outcome can be greatly diminished by significant fluctuations in your weight. Therefore, individuals who are planning substantial weight loss or women who may be considering future pregnancies may be advised to postpone abdominoplasty surgery.

Before Tummy Tuck

In Belgravia Medical Centre we believe in transparency and take your health seriously.

During your initial consultation, our team of plastic surgeons describes in detail and discusses in length the tummy tuck cosmetic procedure with you. We listen to your preferences, evaluate them and ensure that your wishes are compatible with your lifestyle and medical history. It goes without saying that during initial consultation our team of experts will answer every question you might have.

Initial consultation includes topics such as discussion on your desires and expectations, medical conditions and allergies, use of medication, alcohol and tobacco and previous surgeries.>

Afterwards, your personal plastic surgeon will evaluate your general health status, discuss the options available to you and the likely outcomes, examine and measure your face and show you before and after photographs of past patients who have undergone the same surgery as the one you want. This way we ensure that you have a complete understanding of the results you will attain.

After the procedure

You are not taking your journey to self confidence, youth and beauty alone. Dr. Lemonas and his team support you 100% before, during and after your procedure. Your preoperative visit takes place one week before surgery and during it we will provide you a handout with specific instructions to follow after the operation. These include postoperative care at home and prescriptions for medications.

Although the recovery time needed for a tummy tuck varies from person to person, most patients return to work 2-3 weeks after surgery. However, all strenuous activity and exercise should be avoided for at least four weeks. Although scarring is inevitable, Dr. Lemonas will place the incision line as low as possible where it can be hidden by most underwear or bathing suits.

It goes without saying that we design a schedule of follow up appointments to closely monitor your progress and make your recovery fast and easy.
